In this paper, I will discuss how my life has changed since I started Nursing School. Going back to school after being in the work force for many years is at times a strange endeavor. Sometimes I feel like I am too old for school, or that maybe I am not smart enough, and sometimes general feelings of depression have overwhelmed me. But, me response is not all dark. In fact, in three specific ways, this transition has changed my life in a very positive way. Of the three positive outcomes, one is personal, one is educational and one has to do with social adjustment. Before I go into some detail about these three positive outcomes of starting Nursing School, I would like to take a little time to discuss what my personal plan has been in dealing with the more challenging aspects of starting school again after so many years, particularly how I have dealt with fear of failure, lack of confidence, confusion regarding new expectations, and a general feelings of being overwhelmed.
